As we now reach the end of the academic year, it gives us an opportunity to look back upon what has happened throughout the lifetime of UTCR.Live so far.
When we first began, the station ran infrequently in an enrichment session once or twice a month. This has since expanded to include a healthy repertoire of regularly programmed shows. Varying from the typical pop thru to punk, alternative, rock & drill.
It’s also worth remembering that UTCR.Live is still 100% independent from the school leadership team. It is entirely run by students.
I have gained a wealth of experience from running UTCR.Live. From learning to lead a team to writing editorial guidelines and even managing the infrastructure. This opportunity is far beyond anything I could have expected here.Benjamin Lewis, Executive Producer
The team also expanded the traditional radio station out to begin broadcasting weekly quizzes through YouTube and culminated in starting a journalistic style news site. (Which you’re reading this on right now!)

The team also had a pandemic to deal with! While many commercial companies struggled to adapt to the change that COVID-19 brung, UTCR.Live had already implemented a contingency plan; distributing equipment to students at home and continuing with a show schedule even more densely packed than before the lockdown!
It would seem that UTCR.Live actually did better due to the impact that COVID-19 had on the world.
I just wanted to say a huge thank you to my whole team for the sheer amount of effort they have put into UTCR.Live. I hope that it continues to grow many years after we all leave!Benjamin Lewis, Executive Producer
